I enjoy a good white pie every now and then. My usual go-to’s are this Zucchini Pizza or a Wild Mushroom Pizza, but lately, I’ve been obsessed with this creamy Alfredo Pizza.
The idea is straightforward here. Pizza dough + Alfredo sauce + mozzarella + parmesan = one rich and delectable pizza. I like to sprinkle sliced chives on top of this pizza, but it’s completely optional. The simplicity of the ingredients brings out the flavor of the Alfredo sauce.
This Alfredo Pizza goes well with a cold beer and a fresh side salad tossed in a tangy vinaigrette. Keep reading for the recipe.
INGREDIENTS the creamiest alfredo pizza recipe
- 1 ball of pizza dough
- 3/4 cup Homemade Alfredo Sauce
- 8 ounces low moisture mozzarella cheese, grated
- 3 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, diced
- Grated Parmesan cheese
- Kosher salt
- 1 1/2 tablespoons thinly sliced chives (optional)
How to make alfredo pizza
To make Alfredo Pizza, evenly spread a ball of pizza dough on a pizza pan. Then top with 3/4 cup Alfredo Sauce (I prefer to use homemade here). Then, top with a mixture of shredded low-moisture mozzarella and diced fresh mozzarella.
I like to combine two types of mozzarella to get the flavor of fresh mozzarella with the dry stretchiness of low-moisture mozz. If you used only fresh mozzarella, the finished pizza would be far too wet!
Before transferring the pizza to the bottom rack of a hot oven, top it with grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. I’m talking about 500°F. This will guarantee a nice, golden crust.
A pizza takes exactly 11 minutes to cook in my oven. Timing will vary depending on your oven, but I would check the bottom crust for color around 8 or 9 minutes. When the bottom of the crust is deeply golden brown, the pizza is done.
Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes after it comes out of the oven, then top with chopped chives. Slice and serve right away!
FAQS: the creamiest alfredo pizza recipe
Can you use alfredo sauce for white pizza?
The quick answer is: Yes!
I usually make white pies with just cheese, but Alfredo sauce can also be used as a base sauce for white pizza. For a large pizza, you’ll need about 3/4 cup.
Remember that Alfredo Sauce is made with butter, cream, and Parmesan cheese, so you’re adding a lot of fat to your pizza. Don’t go overboard on the cheese or other fatty ingredients.
What to put on alfredo pizza?
Alfredo Pizza is delicious on its own, but it can also be topped with additional vegetables and proteins. Try topping with cooked asparagus, broccoli, kale, or Brussels sprouts. Alternatively, use raw bell pepper, jalapeno, or Fresno chile.
Cubed chicken is a tasty addition. Particularly when paired with bacon! You could also put shrimp on Alfredo Pizza, but I would recommend doing so after the pizza comes out of the oven.
